upgrade to Joomla 3.0
« on: February 17, 2013, 08:28:23 PM »
I have enjoyed using RSGallery2 on my Joomla 1.5 website.  Now I am thinking about rebuilding it on Joomla 3.03 and I am wondering when and if RSGallery 2 will be upgraded.
Thanks for this great extension.

I started working on RSGallery2 because I wanted to use it on Joomla 1.6 and it wasn't available for J16 at that time, only for Joomla 1.5 (and 1.0). Now Joomla 1.6 has evolved, via 1.7, to 2.5 and RSGallery2 is available for that.

Right now Joomla 3 is being developed. Short term releases 3.0.x, 3.1.x, etc. and finally a Long Term Release 3.5 that, according to http://www.joomla.org/announcements/36-project-release-news.html?start=3  is scheduled for spring 2014, over a year from now.

Of course, I want RSGallery2 to work on Joomla 3 on my own website :-) so Yes! I would like to get RSG2 ready for Joomla 3! However, finding the time and energy to work on that is currently a bit hard (I'm expecting and will be going on maternaty leave, currently RSG2 is fun but not a priority ;)).

With the info in the paragraphs "Who is this release for?" and "What is the status of Joomla! 2.5?" on the page mentioned it may not be a too bad thing not have RSG2 for Joomla 3.0 anyway...? But I can understand the wish for having components for J3.

Of course, any help is welcome, be it with answering posts on the board or coding.
Suddenly on maternity leave: our baby boy was born a few weeks early, he's doing well now.
For the next couple of weeks I won't available, for true emergences pm locutusweb please.

I hope that RSGallery2 users will help each other out in the mean time.

Hi Mirjam,

Thanks for your reply.  I understand that you have another priority and wish you well. I'll keep my eyes open for a future upgrade.

Thanks.
I think you can always click the "Notify" button in the Announcements board (http://www.rsgallery2.nl/announcements/) to get an e-mail if a new release is announced or if there is other news.
