install error
« on: March 06, 2013, 09:26:56 AM »
From what I've read rsgallery2 sounds exactly what I want but I strike major problem when installing, obviously it is something wrong on my end but I have also tried a complete clean install of joomla and had exactly the same errors

I have attached a screen dump of the control panel for simplicity, hope thats ok

any help would be great

Sorry that i can't tell it exactly. But at least sombody answers ;-).
What i see when i google it, then in php.ini there is a line "error_reporting = E_ALL | E_STRICT"
Try to change it to following "error_reporting = E_ERROR"

They tell on the german web site i found that "In test surrounding like XAMMP these warnings are desired,  but in production surroundings they shall not appear"

Just for info: I did install rsgaller2 on Joomla 2.5 in the last month without error

Thanks whazzup, I figure it's something to do with my local install, I have a test site on the web and it installed there with no errors.
I think I'll have to put it down to xamp compatability

Thanks whazzup.

These error about strict settings is a server setting (although perhaps one could argue that the PHP code should be updated that these strict errors are no longer there?). This is a note from http://www.rsgallery2.nl/rsgallery2_3.x_bugs_problems/sqlerror_message_installation_mysql_5.5_16724.msg43497.html#msg43497, with the source

So mikednnz, it's important to tell us more about your server... E.g. the System Information found in Joomla, and for example if you're using XAMPP...

Note for XAMP 1.7.4
XAMP 1.7.4 uses E_STRICT for error reporting. This will give you loads of "Strict Standards" error messages (even some within Joomla itself). There is a way around this: tell PHP (within XAMPP) not to use this standard:
- Find php.ini in the /xampp/php/ folder
- Find line "error_reporting = E_ALL | E_STRICT"
- Replace this line with "error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE"
- Then restart your Apache server! (or it won't get the new setting)
[Source: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?t=536127&f=429, other option is to change your htaccess file, although I did not try that myself: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2002270]
With a babyboy in the house I don't spend as much time on RSG2 as before. I still like RSG2, if you do too, please think about how you can invest some of your time in RSG2...
