I'm managing a website for our school since a few months.

Over the past week I've been creating galleries and batch uploading pictures. This afternoon it was suddenly impossible to add a gallery since it became text only.
Our school is being audited this week so I need to get everything back up and running. Any suggestions?

It's hosted by one.com (www.melgesdreef.be)
It's running on Joomla 1.5.25

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Things to check
- Did something change on the webhost?
- Did you install anything just before you got the problem?
- Does a reinstall of RSGallery2 fix things? (You will want to have a backup before any major changes, like (re)installing componentes!)
- Does it happen with different browsers, e.g. Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari?

If this only happens in the backend with the galleries, and you need to add galleries quickly, you could use the frontend My Galleries. Enable them in the Backend Control Panel and set the number of allowed galleries high enough.

You are using RSGallery2 2.2.1 on Joomla 1.5.25 and you have read the Posting Rules (I can see it on your screenshot  ;)). What are the PHP and MySQL versions? Did you turn on Joomla's Debug? Does that give any errors?
With a little boy in the house I don't spend as much time on RSG2 anymore.

I still like RSG2, if you do too, please think about how you can invest some of your time in RSG2... the one remaining coding volunteer (Whazzup) can use your help!

Hello Mirjam,

Thanks for the swift reply, here's the info from my host:

PHP
Current PHP version: 5.3.10
safe_mode = OFF
memory_limit = 80MB
upload_max_filesize = 96MB
post_max_size = 96MB
max_execution_time = 50 sec
For image processing we offer GD2, but not ImageMagick.
Full details on One.com's PHP configuration: http://www.one-docs.com/php5.

Be aware that you cannot change the PHP configuration, except for register_globals and display_errors which are deactivated per default, but can be activated in the control panel.

MySQL
MySQL version: mysqlnd 5.0.8-dev - 20102224 - $Revision: 321634 $
max_user_connections = 24
max_allowed_packet = 16 MB
Further details on MySQL variables: http://www.one-docs.com/mysql.

As far as the other questions are concerned;
- Did something change on the webhost? No
- Did you install anything just before you got the problem? Nothing was installed, I was only uploading pictures for each class and then creating new galleries before uploading new pictures and suddenly it all stopped working.
- Does a reinstall of RSGallery2 fix things? (You will want to have a backup before any major changes, like (re)installing componentes!) I even did a downgrade to 2.2.0 nothing changed and only for that specific page all teh rest works just fine.
- Does it happen with different browsers, e.g. Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari? Yes I tried all of them both on Mac and PC
If this only happens in the backend with the galleries, and you need to add galleries quickly, you could use the frontend My Galleries. Is that somethin I should install additionally, because there's nothing like that in my pages.

Also my sub galleries don't show in the frontend My Galleries.

I only get to see the main galleries but I'm uploading pictures into sub galleries for each class and then each activity.

That you only see two levels of galleries in the frontend is a bug. That is fixed for v3 for Joomla 2.5.x but not yet for version 2.x on Joomla 1.5.x. I'll take a look...

On a hunch I have something you can try for the backend. I've changed the "list" setting for the galleries in the backend. It was default "All" for the galleries list and for many galleries that is at least not convenient. With the attached file it takes the list length from the Global Configuration (which is max. 100 and you can set it yourself).

The attached zipfile contains the file galleries.php. Please replace /JOOMLAROOT/administrator/components/com_rsgallery2/options/galleries.php with this one.

With the attached files you can see the galleries with subgalleries up to 20 levels deep. There are two files attached: mygalleries.class.php and mygalleries.php in a zipfile. You'll have to copy these to the /JOOMLAROOT/components/com_rsgallery2/lib/mygalleries/ directory.

Both adaptations seem to work like a charm. Mirjam you are a lifesaver - many thanks from Antwerp. :D

Good to hear that!

The changes are now in the SVN. In http://www.rsgallery2.nl/nightly_builds_rsgallery2_joomla_1.5/available_nightly_builds_posting_guidelines_downloads_16610.0.html a zip can be downloaded that includes the changes posted in this thread.
