Sub Folders in gallery on server
« on: April 20, 2012, 05:11:20 AM »
Just wondering if it is possible to make subfolders under a gallery to help sort images.
My reasoning behind this is if the front end user wants to use a thumbnail images some place else they could look under the Folder of thumbnails then find folder of Dogs and see what thumbnail they want.. as it is now it appears that all Images both thumbnails and originals are stored in their respective  folders
When reading the Documentation I didn't see anything that like that galleries are just made controlled by the DB and everything is thrown together..

Did I miss something???

Or as in some of my previous post.. the answer gonna be.. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU COULD DEVELOPS ;D
Thanks

No, currently this is not possible.

It would mean almoste a complete rewrite of RSGallery2 to achieve this. I have seen other Joomla gallery components that do save images and thumbnail in a directory structure mimicing the gallery structure (JoomGallery, and there was a migration script: http://www.forum.en.joomgallery.net/index.php?topic=1513.0, I was interested in that in the time that RSGallery2 no longer seemed to be developed).

My reasoning behind this is if the front end user wants to use a thumbnail images some place else they could look under the Folder of thumbnails then find folder of Dogs and see what thumbnail they want.. as it is now it appears that all Images both thumbnails and originals are stored in their respective  folders
Suggestion:
http://www.rsgallery2.nl/announcements/rsgallery2_single_image_display_plugin_and_jce_editor_plugin_16707.msg43426.html#msg43426
See the attached screenshot
(I'll make some time to try to get it working on Joomla 2.5 (update: the JCE plugin for Joomla 1.5 does not install on Joomla 2.5).)

No, with this I wouldn't dare to ask it...

Suddenly on maternity leave: our baby boy was born a few weeks early, he's doing well now.
For the next couple of weeks I won't available, for true emergences pm locutusweb please.

I hope that RSGallery2 users will help each other out in the mean time.

Alrighty I understand..Sad though I was enjoying working with this component

In this case its not a big deal because I am just in the birthing process of this gallery so I don't need to migrate to another system I can just start over

No worries this was more of a tongue in cheek comment.. Since with some of my other posts.. you had suggested it was something I could develop
Many thanks for all your help keep up the good work.
would have loved to stay with this component cuz I am not that thrilled with the standard template of Joomgallery.but I have to think of my front end users

It's a good thing that there are so many extensions out there. There must be something for every wish there is. And each one has it advantages and disadvantages  ;)  It's up to you to pick the one that suits your wishes best.
